Making an emergency proposal
Emergency proposals are encrypted: the details of the proposal are only visible to Security Council members. These proposals should only be used for urgent protocol changes that require fast action. The proposal must receive 6 approvals within 14 days from Security Council members to be executable. An approved proposal can be executed by any Security Council member.
After execution, the proposal becomes visible to the public, including its actions and any relevant details.
Should the proposal fail to collect 6 approvals in the 14 day window, it will automatically expire. The expired proposal will be visible to the public.
This guide outlines how to create an emergency proposal in the DAO interface.
Creating an Emergency Proposal
Navigate to the DAO interface and select the Security Council tab.
You will see a list of the Security Council Members, as well as tabs for Standard Proposals and Emergency Proposals. Naviage to the Emergency Proposals tab and connect your wallet to see the Submit Emergency Proposal button. Select it to access the proposal creation interface.
In the proposal creation interface, you will be prompted to fill in a Title, Summary, and an optional Body to describe your proposal. Security Council members are recommended to use the for providing more context.
You can then scroll down and add Actions to your proposal. You can add multiple actions, and each action can target either Ethereum or Taiko L2. Actions can be selected from the interface, or you can paste a contract’s raw calldata. After adding the actions, you can submit the proposal for review by fellow Security Council Members by clicking the Submit Proposal button and signing the transaction.
For more info on the raw calldata option, see the Writing actions in contracts guide.
